Information You Submit
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its own results. Gillespie County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept as needed to prepare and deliver a response. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Information Collected Automatically
When a page loads, the website's systems may receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates, times, and visit duration
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Pages viewed during the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies help measure traffic patterns, such as which pages receive visits and where a session ends. Analytics providers may combine that usage data into reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.
How Information Is Used
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Measuring which content visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal Records Database
Gillespie County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to records held by the Gillespie County Sheriff, the local courts, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a criminal record about another person.
Outside Search Providers
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on the website. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure rules. Visitors should read those terms before running a search.
Links Beyond This Website
Links may lead to Gillespie County offices, court systems, Texas agencies, legal-aid resources, or partner search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy terms control. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across sites for targeted advertising. That tracking is not operated by Gillespie County Criminal History.
Limited Information Sharing
Personal data is not sold. Information may still be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring site use and speed
- Search partners processing a query submitted to them
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
Data Security Measures
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information collected by the site. No internet system is completely secure, however, so a breach-free service cannot be guaranteed.
Visitors Under Age 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If such information is identified, we will delete it after being notified.
Your Data Choices
Rights can differ based on the law that applies where a visitor lives. A visitor may ask to exercise the following choices when applicable:
- Opt out of certain processing activities
- Request a copy of personal data held about the visitor
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
- Ask for deletion of personal data
For clarity, the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to public information held by Texas government bodies. Criminal-history dissemination by Texas DPS is separately limited by Government Code sections 411.083 and 411.135. Those laws do not turn this private site into Gillespie County or a state records custodian.
Policy Revisions
This privacy policy may be revised. An updated version will be posted here and will show a new effective date, so visitors should review the page periodically.
